AR Rahman destroys trolls slamming daughter Khatija| Freedom to choose

AR Rahman made the country proud by bagging, not one, but two Oscars for his work in Slumdog Millionaire. It has been a decade. He was awarded under the categories Best Original Score and Best Original Song (which he shared with lyricist Gulzar).
Recently, the composer and the team celebrated 10 years of music of Slumdog Millionaire in which his daughter Khatija Rahman delivered an emotional speech. While Khatija’s speech received great responses, it also invited trolls, who called her father AR Rahman, a hypocrite for allegedly forcing her daughter to wear a naqab.
AR Rahman had the best comeback for these baseless accusations on him. He shared of photo of his daughters Khatija, Raheema and wife Sairaa with Nita Ambani. He also captioned the photo with #freedomtochoose.
While Raheema is spotted wearing a pink embellished salwar, Khatija wore a burqa to the event. The photo of Rahman’s family is still making the rounds and many people came in support of the Sarvam Thaala Mayam composer.
Also, Khatija took to Facebook to address these accusations. She wrote, “I’m a sane mature adult who knows to make my choices in life. Any human being has a choice to wear or do what he/she wants and that’s what I’ve been doing. Hence, kindly don’t make your own judgments without understanding the exact situation #freedomofchoice. She also added that she didn’t expect such a response to her speech. “The recent conversation of myself on stage with my dad has been doing the rounds although I didn’t expect such an overwhelming response.
However, there were certain comments which said that this attire is being forced by my dad and that he has double standards. I would like to say that the attire I wear or the choices I make in my life does not have anything to do with my parents. The veil has been my personal choice with complete acceptance and honour.
